Dan’s Experience

  • Founding member, 1st Board President and Executive Director of the Kitchener Blues Festival
  • Working with a neighbourhood group in the Ward to ensure that a proposed elementary school is built on schedule to serve the area in need of a school
  • Fought for the neighbourhood to stop an 84 townhouse project being built on a proposed school property in the ward and working with the school board on a future school
  • Created a neighbourhood group on his street and organized an annual Street Party / Garage Sale day that celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2014
  • Lead a neighbourhood group in the Ward to reach a reasonable outcome for a traffic calming issue
  • Promote the Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort as a valued not-for-profit partner in Ward 2
  • Assisting and volunteering with many of the seniors programs and facilities in the Ward
  • Support the Rockway Seniors Centre as a valuable and well-used facility in the city
  • Successfully helped to organize a support group for the Victoria Park Boathouse as a live music venue and spoke at council on behalf of the group
  • A long time supporter and advocate for downtown Kitchener who initiated the first Kitchener KDBA (Kitchener Downtown Business Association) Blues Sidewalk sale during the Blues Festival
  • Very involved in community issues and has organized meetings and programs as well as representing various groups at city council
  • Fundraising Committee Chair for the Mocha Shriner’s Satellite Clinic at the London Children’s Hospital and member of the Shriner’s Hospital transportation team and children’s entertainment unit
  • Volunteer with the Child Identification Kit program in Waterloo Region
  • Continued commitment to volunteer service with many local organizations and events including; Word on the Street, The 1st Night (Alcohol free New Year’s Eve Celebration at Kitchener City Hall), IIHF Women’s World Hockey & Men’s Under 17 Hockey Championships (Kitchener), Thaler Manor  and Sunnyside Seniors Programs
